Students of the Social Justice minor are engaged in the crucial assessment of the various forms of injustices and the development of strategies to create and sustain a more equitable and just society. The Social Justice minor is designed so that students of any major can pursue it and enhance their course of study.

What is the Social Justice minor?
The Social Justice Minor offers students an interdisciplinary experience that focuses on the goal and process of achieving equal rights and opportunities for all members of society. The curriculum emphasizes marginalized identities, social structure, and social change; the distribution of power, resources, and opportunities; and appropriate individual and collective remedies for social inequities.

Crime and Justice Studies Major, Social Justice Minor
Crime and Justice majors learn and apply critical thinking and criminological theory to address the issues pertinent to the creation of a just society. Paired with a Social Justice minor, students can expand their knowledge and understanding by pursuing classes such as Race and Crime and Juvenile Justice.
Political Science Major, Social Justice Minor
Marist’s Political Science degree combines broad exposure to the discipline with the ability to specialize in a student's area of interest, which can help forge their career path. Political Science majors can pursue the Social Justice minor and participate in classes such as Gender & Law, Political Social Movement, and Politics of Human Rights.
Psychology Major Social Justice Minor
The Psychology major is grounded in the history, theories, and methodology of psychology. With a varied curriculum, students are encouraged to pursue coursework that is centered around their interests. Combined with the Social Justice minor, students can participate in classes such as Culture and Psychology and Community Psychology.
History Major, Social Justice Minor
History majors gain real-world knowledge and skills by exploring global history to gain a greater understanding of the world in an effort to create a better future. History majors can pursue the Social Justice minor and take classes such as Intro to Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and History of American Manhood.
